CHAPTER HOUSE RENOVATIONS

Work to the chapter house will proceed as funds and time are available. The following is a partial list of priority projects as currently assessed. Many of the projects to the chapter house will be scheduled to coincide with school breaks. This project list will change as priorities evolve and projects are completed.
During the Fall semester we hope to have the heating system fired up and tested on a room by room basis. The boiler has been inspected and serviced and seems to be in very good working order. We have tentatively scheduled to have a plumbing contractor complete a room by room survey of the house radiators. We believe that the last significant radiator assessment and repair was completed in the mid 1980s. Many of the individual radiators need attention. For some, it will be a simple leveling. Some will require new valves and/or steam traps. Some are leaking and/or missing (old leakers) and will need to be replaced. There is no way to accurately estimate the extent or cost of the required repairs. We hope to quantify the magnitude of the issue with the detailed assessment, develop a priority list and programmatically address the heating issues as time and funds permit.
During the winter break we hope to schedule a screening and re-sealing of the first floor wood floors.
We've begun to compile a list of potential projects for next year's work week. The work week list below reflects current thoughts regarding a $5,000 2008 work week effort. Projects will be added to or removed from the list as priorities evolve and funding and manpower are finalized.
Later priorities begin to outline potential other major improvement projects including bathroom repairs to the upstairs bathrooms, furniture replacement and completion of heating and plumbing work. Window replacement is another potential project which we have not addressed in this list due to the likely magnitude of the project ($80-100,000 potential budget).
